'Ensuring Every Child Achieves’

At Sunnyside Primary Academy, we are committed to ensuring that every child can access a provision that enables them to develop their abilities, realise their ambitions, and thrive as successful learners and valued members of our community.

We recognise that children learn in different ways and at different rates. We celebrate these differences and work closely with pupils and families to ensure that every child receives the support they need to achieve their full potential.

Our aim is to work in partnership with you and your child. Some children may require additional support to help them access learning, overcome barriers, or make expected progress. This support may be needed for a short period of time or throughout a child's education.

Where a child is identified as having Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND), they will be included on our SEND Register. We will carefully monitor their progress and review the support provided to ensure it continues to meet their needs.

Children on the SEND Register have an individual learning plan that identifies their strengths, areas of need, and next steps for learning. Some pupils may also have a One Page Profile. This helps staff, visitors, and other professionals to develop a clear understanding of the child's strengths, interests, aspirations, and the support that enables them to succeed. It also supports effective transition between classes and phases of education.

All pupils have access to the full curriculum and are supported through high-quality teaching alongside reasonable adjustments that are tailored to their individual needs. These may include adapted learning activities, targeted interventions, additional scaffolding, visual supports, chunked tasks, assistive technology, or other personalised strategies.

If you have concerns about your child's learning, development, or wellbeing, we encourage you to arrange a meeting with our SEND team. Together, we can discuss any concerns, consider appropriate classroom adaptations, explore possible interventions, and, where appropriate, seek advice from external agencies. We are committed to working collaboratively with families and will help guide you through the support available.
