We are delighted that you are considering Sunnyside Primary Academy as the next step in your child's education.

The Sunnyside Primary Academy provides an education for children within the 4 to 11 age range who live in Kingsthorpe and the surrounding area.

Pupils will be admitted at the age of 4+ without reference to ability or aptitude using the criteria set out in this policy. Admission to our Academy is not dependent on any ‘voluntary’ contribution.

Admissions Numbers

We have 60 places in our Reception Year; if we are oversubscribed, places will be allocated in accordance with our Admissions Policy, which can be found at the bottom of this page.

For admission to Reception, for September 2025, parents should apply using the West Northamptonshire Council’s Admissions process. Application forms must be submitted by midnight on 17 January 2025 and parents applying by this deadline will find out which school their child has been offered a place on National Offer Day (16 April 2025).

In-year Applications

If you are moving into the area or would like to move your child to our school, you should apply using the in-year application form on West Northamptonshire Council’s website.

Appeals

Parents have the right of appeal to an Independent Appeals Panel if their application is unsuccessful relating to admissions at age 5 (statutory school age) or above.  Appeals should be made within twenty (20) school days of the date of the refusal to:

Please be aware that the regulations under Section I of the School Standards and Framework Act 1998 limit the size of an infant class (a class in which the majority of children will reach the age of 5, 6 or 7 during the school year) to 30 pupils per class teacher. Admissions over this limit are only permitted in very limited circumstances.
